When “thugs” get desperate
written by 4bars

50 Cent is an awesome business man and a good rapper too. Kanye West is an outstanding artist. These two met in a historic “competition” a year ago before each of their third albums were released where their careers were put up on the line. Retirement was to be the fate of the loser yet as we all know, the loser did not follow through claiming a (ahem) technicality.

I can’t be too mad at 50 for that though, cause if I lost a competition I thought for sure I’d win, I wouldn’t want to give up my gravy train either, besides, there were no contracts signed, sue me (haha). But I must say that like most, he lost a lot of credibility and was left with egg on his face. Fast forward to this week, Curtis decides it’s time to reopen old wounds.

It’d be one thing if he hadn’t already lost once, but this is just reaching. The worst part of the whole thing is his desperate yet arrogant plea for people to buy his album, “See what I am? Stop f*%kin wit me and see what happens, see what you stuck with?” Stuck with? Really? Not sure if anybody has Curtis’ cell phone or screen name but he needs to get the memo that the G-Unit album not only flopped but people are tired of the minstrel show. Fittingly, he sneers “let’s get back to work” as DJ Whoo Kid cues up the provocative smash “I Like The Way She Do It” (sigh). In the illustrious words of Cam’ron (can’t believe I’m quoting Cam) “need some courtesy Curtis”. This is desperation at its worst, first Ciara is butt naked on Vibe tryna sell records (and make Bow Wow jealous) and now 50 is f’n delusional, “WHAT IS WE GON DOOOO?”

The thing that amuses me about 50 is that he has a great knowledge and understanding of the industry...until it comes to him. Then he gets all delusional. He's a very special, special man.

Shout to Jus for trying to make him a role model. lol.

I wouldn't quite say I'm "stuck" w/ the Kanye song. I do kinda feel like I'm stuck w/ a T-Pain joint, though.

I aGREE.
Tpain tracks make me feel stuck because no matter how stupid I think it sounds, IM GOING TO HEAR IT 10,000 TIMES before his next joint comes out and the cycle continues. Im so stuck that sometimes I find myself singing along to the stupidity of "BEING IN LOVE WITH A SKRIPPER".

CIARA......OMG, WE NEED A SEPARATE POST FOR THAT. FOR REAL. SOME people are saying its a sign of her maturity. I don't know when being mature had n e thing to do with being butt @$$ naked on the cover of VIBE, in a pose that looks like your taking a $hit in some designer pumps. If it was a good picture, then maybe. But, what makes this worse is the fact that she is saying that VIBE manipulated the cover to make it look worse than it is. HMMMMM, NO C C. I think you taking your clothes off is what made it worse. What gets me even more annoyed is that when u actually open it up IT GETS WORSE... And I don't care how great her body is (bc shes very "fit") the pics are bad.
I missed PTM, I had to go in a bit.
Please excuse me.
50 IS ANNOYING...END OF STORY.

I don't know about yall but i thought the video is pretty freggin funny. Maybe its because I don't like Love lockdown but 50 has a history of doing some real comical shit.

And i don't think he's delusional. he knows that this isn't 2004 and he's no longer guaranteed to sell 5 mill out the gate, but he's still very relevant tho and very rich.

That s**t was funny tho.

Jus, gotta disagree with you homie (as is clear by my post) but he's reaching. His last two projects have been failures. Granted, Curtis sold well, but less than expected and less than Kanye, double whammy, however you look at it. Now, with another L in his column (TOS) and an upcoming album, he's at risk of strike 3. So he mocks a dude who is no longer on his radar? Kanye had the biggest tour since f'n Hov, last album was GREAT, closed the MTV awards by ripping it, and has ANOTHER highly anticipated album on the way. The two of them are headed in two different directions career wise and musically yet 50 does his same old song and dance of trying to stir up some artificial shit to draw a reaction. It's immature and old, he needs to find another gimmick. tape some more convos or something cause the whole "i'll say something and then he'll bite" thing only works on people who are on his level or beneath, and kanye is like gwiz "up in the sky with the birds and the planes..."

Come on, it's funny. This has been 50's M.O. ever since he came out. He attacks whoever is hot. And he's entertaining as hell. He knows exactly what he is doing. Look at his entire career starting with "How to Rob". He knows how to play the bad guy. People hate him or love him, but either way, he gets a reaction. And just cause your "crew's" album is wack, shouldn't count against the main artist as a strike. Anyone try to re-listen to the Junior Mafia album lately? PAINFUL.

I'm not even disagreeing with you about him falling off musically or selling less albums. I'm just saying that the shit is funny.

I only disagree with the delusional part and the idea that he's grasping. 50 knows exactly what he's doing and Bars as much as you might disagree, you and the rest of us are helping him win right now. As you can see in the video it says "ThisIs50.com" in big ass letters. Almost as big as the video itself. Anyone who then goes to that website will get to see all of the banners and pay-per-click ads that are going back into Curtis' pocket. So yeah he's selling less albums than he used to but like the "role model" that he is, he is still finding a way to get paid of this music shit.

chea

p.s. TI album - crack.

Also, you can't call his last two projects "failures" then say Curtis still sold well. That my friend is a contradiction. He ate better off Curtis than 95% other rappers in the game. Now I thought musically it sucked but it didn't fail because it kept him relevant and as long as he's relevant, he's gonna win.

failure is not a statement of quantity, it can be, but in this case, if you want to look at it quantitatively, 50 had a goal to reach: more than Kanye. He didnt meet that mark so he failed, by his own admission he will tell you that his last album was in his eyes, a failure. Ask the patriots if last year was a failure, 99% of them will tell you yes, unequivocally. Relevant, yes, just like the US is globally, but well liked? It's gettin worse. I guess that's my point, he's looked at by many as a caricature moreso than an artist or a phenom as he once was. I'm saying he's fallen off, not saying he's "bad" but he's not what he used to be, not by a long shot. Barking up the same tree again (hence the appropriate gWiz tag) and its just old. I agree, it used to be funny when he was bringing it musically but again, by his own admission, he admits that he does this stuff because he thinks fans are stupid and they'll fall for it. Cant ride with it, lo siento. I'm bout to peep the TI album though, everything i heard that leaked early was great except for the "here i stand" shit and the "let my beat pound" joint, but he left one of em off. but i'm mad he left the joint with the dream off cause i cant find an unedited version of it, anybody has that, HOLLERRR atcha boy

50 is a cartoon character and he's being paid to be such. He's probably an okay guy in real life, but I can't stand his music. I'm personally tired of him so I hope this is the last time I have to mention his name.

I been gone for a minute but this is the type of PTM convo I like! Good job Stu! I wanted to post this but in a different manner (biggin' Fif up for taking some shots at Ye.) I like Ye but I fell flat when Love Lockdown dropped. I was like, "damn Ye' you can take us to the left but you just took us past Beyonce soft on this one!" But it's all good. I see Ye's vision it's just that with this song it kinda feels like Ye' is reaching. Maybe that's what 50 thinks and that's why he decided to mock him...

My "2 cents" is that "50 Cent's" MO HAS always been to attack who ever is hot at the time. 50 has to be beside him self about losing to Kanye sales wise because he still thinks his music is the hottest! 50 has never came off as the type of person to bow out so I don't think he's going to bow out of this battle with Kanye or any other rapper in the game.

JuS touched on a good point that 50is still makin' money in other ways. I feel like as long as he's doing that we're going to be "STUCK" with 50. LOL...

This was pretty funny, though.

i think i didnt find it that funny cause i actually like love lockdown a lot, but i also think that the love below is a hip hop album so take that for what its worth. If 50 had mocked say a mos def croon, maybe i laugh, but i feel like you cant talk shit if you're losing or to somebody who has already beaten you, it's just foolish, hence the "reach".
